  • The American trading session (16:00 – 24:00).

Including it is possible to work during trading sessions for Australia and Oceania passing in the morning: 01:00 – 09:00.

Importance of Forex Trading Sessions Schedules Monitoring

(In the material is presented Moscow time: GTM+3)

The opening of Asian session marks the traditional beginning of the trading day. In these hours participants of the market pay close attention to Asian currencies – yen, Singapore dollar, etc. Because many countries of the Asian region dynamically export goods, during the Asian trading hours of the company adjust the cost of national currencies on the discretion. But this period of the trading is rather quiet as the main activity is developed after the opening of the European session.

The largest and most popular exchanges are in Europe, including large financial institutions and investment funds which actively participate in the biddings and, therefore, this period in Forex trading sessions is the most dynamic. With the opening of the London session at 10:00 the market reaches the greatest volatility lasting up to 13:00-14:00 since bidders make the main transactions till lunch.

The schedule of the biddings after the opening of the New York exchange is, at least, significant at 16:00. During this session European currencies are also actively traded, in connection with return after a lunch of the European dealers. In addition, the biddings join the American traders, active hedge-funds, banks and firms motivated for speculation at the exchange and also are published important economic data from the USA. And at this moment it is necessary to pay attention to the closing of the European session as Americans remain in the exchange single, continuing to trade and use the thin market without liquidity, advancing currency pairs in their interests.

Recommendations about use of the trading sessions schedule

For the correct estimation of a situation in the Forex market by means of the schedule of trading sessions, it is necessary to pay attention to the next moments:

  • The activity of the European session comes during two periods of time: 10:00-14:00 and 15:00-19:00;
  • During the Asian session, the bigger quantity of trading activities is made with the Japanese yen;
  • It isn't necessary to leave the transactions without control in the period of the “thin” market, a conditional transitional stage between sessions when the level of liquidity is small to support of a stable price chart since strong impulses are possible.
  • In days of New Year's holidays when the main exchanges and banks are closed, and quotes considerably grow, brokerage companies remove the means summing up the results of the reporting. The market in these moments “is thin for a long time”, and the behavior of the trader shall be careful and deliberate.
  • Often opening of sessions after days off is followed by a gap therefore, it is recommended to establish protective stop orders on orders, or to close transactions on Friday.
