In June 2017, German business climate index surged to 115.1 from 114.6 in May, according to the Institute for Economic Research (Ifo). Economists on average predicted a decline to 114.5.
The sub-index of expectations for the near future, monitored by IFO, this month rose to 106.8 points compared with 106.5 in the previous month.
The indicator measuring current conditions increased from 123.2 in May to 124.1.
IFO indices are calculated based on the results of a survey of about 7 thousand German firms and are an important indicator of the state of the country's economy.
