Nestle considers selling of its U.S. confectionery business

The Swiss Nestle, one of the world's largest food producers, is considering "strategic options" for the company's U.S. confectionery business, including the potential sale of these operations.

Nestle's U.S. confectionery business could be worth as much as $3 billion, experts estimated.

The company's U.S. unit in 2016 posted about 900 million Swiss francs ($ 922 million) in annual revenue, that is approximately 3% of its total U.S. sales.

Nestle global sales last year jumped to 8.8 billion francs, and the company "remains committed to the development" of this business around the world, especially of the global brand KitKat.
