The vast majority of British employees are currently spending more time at their workplace, though it has no positive effect on their productivity, as a recent landmark study states.
More than 2/3 of British employees tell that they’re allocating more time to their work than two years ago, and only 10% of them are assured they’ve managed to boost their productivity.
As follows from the study, most British businesses rely mainly on low cost labor in an attempt to convert more working hours into increased productivity.
The study has revealed that 9 of 10 workers told productivity was important for them and 80% informed their boss tried to measure it several times. They also added that their managers often made use of jobs cuts to get productivity gains or simply made them work at a faster pace. Only a minor minority of workers associated enhanced productivity with better conditions and higher wages.
There’s a clear message that most employees hope to obtain a fair share from delivering increased productivity in pay terms, though they doubt it’s going to be the case.
