21st Century Fox and Comcast will contest Sky

British government has given a go-ahead to a billions-of-pounds wrestling match for Sky between 21st Century Fox and Comcast. Matt Hancock, British Secretary of State for Culture, has greenlighted the bid by Comcast, and allowed Fox to sell Sky News.

Fox has tried to obtain permission of the country’s regulators from 2016 for purchase of Sky’s 61% that already doesn’t belong to it.

Policymakers and regulators spoke in favor of the bid, as they were troubled by the possibility of excessive power Rupert Murdoch, who owns Fox, could get in relation to British media.
