Asian stocks advanced on Friday, boosted on overnight gains on Wall Street, while many markets in the Asia-Pacific region were closed for Good Friday.
The MSCI Asia Pacific Index inched up 0.5 percent. Japan's Nikkei edged 1.0 percent higher to 21,364.75, while Topix index gained 0.7 percent.
South Korea’s Kospi index surged 0.4 percent and the Shanghai Composite index was up 0.3 percent.
The trade was rather thin across the region on Friday, as many markets were closed for the long Easter weekend break in the world’s biggest trading centers.
On Wall Street the Dow Jones Industrial Average soared 1.1 percent overnight as traders took advantage of lower valuations among some of the market’s most popular tech stocks. The Nasdaq Composite closed up 1.6 percent.
