Asian shares extend rebound as global trade fears subside

Asian stocks edge higher on Tuesday on hopes that a damaging global trade war could be averted.

MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares climbed near 1 percent, while China blue chips .CSI3000 gained 0.9 percent.

Japan's Nikkei .N225 leaped 2.3 percent, showing its best intraday performance in almost three months. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index advanced 0.9 percent.

South Korea's Kospi index added 0.6 percent. Australian shares ticked up 0.7 percent.

On Wall Street the Dow rose 2.84 percent, while the S&P 500 soared 2.72 percent and the Nasdaq 3.26 percent.
