Asian shares inch higher ahead of U.S. inflation data

Asian shares edged higher on Tuesday with technology stocks led the rise, though gains were capped before U.S. inflation fresh figures due later in the day.

MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares ticked up 0.2 percent.

Japan’s Nikkei reversed earlier losses and gained 0.7 percent.

Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 slipped 0.4 percent. South Korean Kospi index ticked up 0.13 percent.

The S&P 500 and the Dow Jones dipped overnight as the imposed U.S. tariffs on metals weighed on industrials, while a surge in tech stocks triggered the Nasdaq to a fresh record peak.
