Asian stocks edged up on Wednesday in thin trading due to a holiday-shortened week as most markets of the region opened after the Christmas.
MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares inched up 0.3 percent to near a recent one-month peak.
Japan's Nikkei 225 Stock Average ticked up 0.1 percent.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index was virtually flat, while South Korea’s Kospi Index increased 0.3 percent.
China’s Shanghai Composite Index dropped 1 percent.
