MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares advanced 0.4 percent.
Japan's Nikkei jumped 1.6 percent to move closer to a 25-year high of 23,382 points.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index rose 0.9 percent, while the Shanghai Composite Index dipped 0.2 percent.
Australian shares advanced 0.7 percent.
