Asian stocks slump in holiday-thinned trading

Asian shares mostly finished lower on Tuesday due to decreased trading activity after Christmas.

The MSCI Asia Pacific Index fell 0.2 percent.

Japan's Nikkei finished the day 0.2 percent lower at 22,892.69. Unemployment in Japan fell to 2.7% in November from 2.8% a month earlier, although experts generally did not expect the change in the index.

Chinese Shanghai Composite increased by 0.8%, while Indian BSE Sensex slipped 0.1%.

Exchanges in Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia and the Philippines were closed due to the continuation of the Christmas holidays.
