Boeing to design next presidential aircraft

Boeing Co. won a nearly $600-million Air Force contract for “preliminary design efforts” on the next presidential aircraft.

The contract includes the design to incorporate a mission communication system, electrical power upgrades, a medical facility and a self-defense system and autonomous ground operations capabilities, according to the Air Force.

The aircraft is expected to be in use in 2024.
