British automaking industry sees investment drop by half

Investment in the UK’s car manufacturing sector slipped by half on Brexit vagueness as existing plans for the country’s departure from the EU are unrealistic, said the largest lobby for carmakers today.

Announced new investments into manufacturing facilities, equipment, model development decreased from £647.4 mln in the first six months of last year to £347.3 mln in 2018 to June 21.

Lingering talks act depressingly on global boardrooms, said Mike Hawes of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
