Chevron launches Wheatstone LNG project in Australia

Chevron Corp said it has started producing liquefied natural gas (LNG) at its Wheatstone project in Australia after six years of construction and investment of $34bn.

The first cargo will be shipped from Wheatstone in the coming weeks. After reaching full capacity, two gas liquefaction units will produce 8.9 million tons of LNG per year, which will be exported to Asia.

Wheatstone has become the second LNG project in Australia.
