China's Great Wall intends to buy Fiat Chrysler

China's Great Wall Motor Co Ltd is interested in bidding for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, the Italian-American carmaker, which owns Jeep and the truck maker Ram.

FCA has searched for a partner or buyer to cut the development costs of electric and self-driving cars. A purchase by Great Wall Motor would be significant, and one of China’s largest profile production deals to date.

Chinese businesses in industries from cars to robotic devices are spending billions of dollars to buy brands and technology to firm their competitive advantage in the domestic market.
