Comcast refuses to buy 21st Century Fox

Comcast Corp. has abandoned plans to purchase most of the 21st Century Fox assets, owned by Rupert Murdoch. Representatives of Comcast explained that they conducted an assessment of the profitability of the transaction, after which they decided not to continue the negotiations.

Now the only contender for a deal that could be valued at more than $40 billion is Walt Disney Co.

Last week, Reuters reported that Disney claimed to purchase assets of 21st Century Fox, including cable channels Fox FX and National Geographic, film studios, Star networks in India and shares in the European pay-TV provider Sky PLC.
