The dollar extended decline on Wednesday, sliding to 2-1/2-year trough against the yuan, before the Federal Reserve’s policy meeting.
The dollar index traded at 88.971 .DXY, having recovered from a three-year trough of 88.438 touched on Friday.
The greenback was unchanged at 108.72 yen. It had tumbled 0.4 percent versus the Chinese yuan, sliding below 6.3 yuan.
The euro edged up 0.3 percent to $1.2436, extending moderate overnight gains.
