Dollar slips on Alabama vote

The dollar dropped on Wednesday as Democrat Doug Jones defeated Republican Roy Moore in Alabama’s Senate race.

The dollar index slipped 0.2 percent to 93.948 .DXY retreating from three-week top scaled on Tuesday.

The greenback fell 0.3 percent to 113.26 yen, while the euro ticked up 0.1 percent to $1.1758.

Bitcoin lost 1.1 percent on the Bitstamp exchange at $16,465.09.

The Fed is expected to raise its benchmark rate to between 1.25 and 1.50 percent, with traders also focusing on clues to the monetary policy for next year.
