The dollar rose to an almost 1-1/2-month peak versus the yen on Friday, as a broadly improvement in investor risk appetite supported shares and pushed U.S. yields significantly higher.
The dollar index inched up to 89.778. It gained 0.2 percent in the previous session.
The greenback was firm at 107.385 yen after rising more than 0.5 percent overnight.
The euro was flat at $1.2328 after dipping 0.3 percent in the previous session.
The Swiss franc was stable at 0.9534 per dollar after sliding 0.5 percent overnight.
The Aussie edged up 0.3 percent to $0.7777 while the New Zealand dollar was virtually unchanged at $0.7378.
Sterling was firm at $1.4237 after surging 0.4 percent.
Bitcoin BTCUSD soared as much as 16 percent to $8,055.20 overnight, reaching its two-week peak.
