The greenback fluctuated near a one-month trough versus a basket of major currencies on Friday.
The dollar index was flat at 92.602 after dipping 0.4 percent overnight to 92.573, its trough since Nov. 27. The index was on course to fall 0.5 percent in December and more than 9 percent for the year.
The greenback slipped 0.1 percent to 112.735 yen, heading to decline 3.5 percent versus its Japanese counterpart in 2017.
The euro was firm at $1.1947. It has risen 0.3 percent in December and 13.5 percent in 2017.
The Australian dollar was virtually flat at $0.7795 having jumped to a two-month high of $0.7810 in the previous session.
The Canadian dollar scaled $1.2555 per dollar, its highest level since Oct. 20.
