The dollar fluctuated on Wednesday on rising global trade tensions, with U.S. President Donald Trump and German Chancellor Angela Merkel talked about pushing back against Chinese trade practices.
The dollar index slipped 0.1 percent to 89.291 .DXY.
The greenback edged up 0.2 percent to 105.530 yen. The euro ticked up 0.15 percent to $1.2419 after sliding 0.3 percent overnight on soft euro area economic figures.
Sterling advanced 0.25 percent to $1.4190 after dipping 0.5 percent on Tuesday.
The Aussie surged 0.3 percent to $0.7698 after falling more than 0.9 percent in the previous session.
