EU to take firm stand in Brexit negotiations - German Finance Minister

German Federal Minister of Finance Wolfgang Schaeuble considers that the European Union should stand rigidly in negotiations with the UK on the terms of Brexit.

The main task in Brexit negotiations was to reduce to a minimum losses to both sides but that would be difficult to achieve due to a number of complex issues and a temporary restriction: the talks should be completed in two years, Schaeuble said.

Britain will not keep its current access to the single European market unless it accepts the rules, Schaeuble warned. In his opinion, the countries remaining in the EU should be ready for Britain's attempts to outwit them, so he advises them to stick together in talks.
