Euro area June factory output falls by more than predicted

Eurozone industrial production slumped by more than expected in June, as the output of durable consumer goods and capital goods dropped, official figures from Eurostat showed on Monday.

Total output tumbled most in Ireland and Malta, while the euro area's two biggest economies, Germany and France also sank. Italy and the Netherlands reported a rise in monthly production, however.

Overall, factory output in the euro zone slid 0.6 percent in June but still rose by 2.6 percent year-on-year.
