Euro area retail sales fall 1.1% in October

Euro area retail sales fell by 1.1% in the in October 2017 compared to the previous month, its biggest drop since December 2013, Eurostat reported.

The indicator increased by 0.4% on an annualized basis.

Among the EU countries for which data are available, Luxembourg (-5.3%), Portugal (-2.3%) and Austria (-1.9%) recorded the largest drop in retail trade for the month. The most significant growth was observed in Romania (1.0%), Great Britain (0.9%), Poland and Slovakia (0.6%).
