Euro dips in wake of Catalonian separatists’ success

The euro slumped on Friday after Catalan separatist parties triumphed in regional election.

The euro at one point fell to $1.1817 in early trading as preliminary results from regional votes on Thursday showed Catalonia's separatists were on track to regain power in the wealthy Spanish region. It inched up slightly to last trade at $1.1849, slipping 0.2 percent.

The greenback was firm at 113.370 yen, with its index against a basket of six major rivals was 0.1 percent higher at 93.392 .DXY.

Bitcoin lost 9.3 percent at $14,100, having fallen to below $14,000 on the Bitstamp exchange earlier.
