European Union upheld decision to act against U.S. protectionism

The EU’s top officials said today they will take action to counter protectionism and urged to work out a law aimed at screening investments, obviously talking about the U.S. and China.

During a gathering in Brussels to discuss migration the leaders also criticized import tariffs on European metals imposed by Washington, and hailed the legal challenge by the EC, as well as retaliatory tariffs on goods from the U.S.

The bottom line of the summit is that the Union will proceed talks over free trade agreements with other countries, following provisional agreements with Japan and Mexico in the 12 previous month.
