Ford to produce new SUVs in China in 2019

Ford Motor Co's plans to start production of luxury crossovers Lincoln in China by the end of 2019.

A new SUV model will be produced by the joint venture between Ford and the Chinese company Changan Automobile at the plant in Chongqing. Ford will continue to supply Lincoln cars from North America, including the Continental model released in 2016.

By starting production in China, Ford will stop paying a 25% import duty, so the model will be able to compete with such German manufacturers as Audi, Mercedes-Benz and BMW, which account for 75% of the Chinese luxury car market.
