German business sentiment falls in February

German business confidence slumped below forecasts in February while staying at a high level, the Ifo Institute said on Thursday, assuming that Europe’s largest economy is on track for impressive growth of 0.7 percent in the first quarter of 2018.

Ifo economic institute's business climate index dropped to a 5-month trough of 115.4 from 117.6 in January. Experts said businesses were less pleased with their current state, but the indicator still was at its top since 1991.

A new coalition between Social Democrats and Angela Merkel’s conservatives had not been a reason for glee among managers.
