Germany’s exports shrink abruptly in September

Exports of Germany suddenly slipped in September, the low reading for the three-month period that might lead to stagnation, which hasn’t happened in over three years.

The country’s exports gave up 0.8% since August, contrarily to predictions of a 0.4% lift. Imports dropped 0.4%, while the active trade balance expanded to €18.4 bln, the biggest from June, the data from the statistics office of today showed.

The fallen exports darken economic prospects, following the upbeat figures of higher manufacturing orders and industrial production in September.
