Gold futures gained slightly in early trading on Wednesday as volatile trade in recent sessions has bounded the haven metal in a comparatively tiny trading range.
June gold futures contract advanced 0.3%, at $1,353.70 an ounce. It lost less than 0.1% in the previous session after rising by 0.2% Monday.
May silver jumped 1.2%, to $16.99 and May copper added 1.8% to $3.136 a pound.
In the currency market the ICE U.S. Dollar Index DXY edged up 0.1% to 89.54.
U.S. stock futures headed to an increase at the open Wednesday, putting the Dow on course to build on rally caused by strong earnings.
