Google files appeal against multibillion fine

Google is seeking to fend off a whopping €4.3 bln fine for purported promotion of its search engine through the Android OS.

Previously the EC claimed that the tech firm was abusing its top position in the market with Android system by embedding its apps including Google search or Chrome browser, while also rewarding other device producers to set Google as a default search.

This becomes the second large fine Google is imposed on by the EU antitrust authority. The first was connected to Google’s lifting its shopping services above other rivals in search results.
