HSBC expects two more U.S. rate hikes in 2017

Analysts at HSBC changed their forecast for U.S. interest rates on Monday, and now anticipate the Federal Reserve will rise interest rates twice this year (in June and September) instead of the one earlier expected.

The next interest rate Increase will be in the first quarter of 2018 before pausing to evaluate the infuence of tighter monetary policy on the economy, the HSBC economists said.

This put them more in line with wider market unanimous consent, although they consider that rates will rise no higher than 1.625 percent during at least two years.
