Inflation in China plunges to 0.8% in February

China's consumer price index (CPI) grew by 0.8 percent year on year in February, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.

Analysts had expected the CPI would rise 1.7 percent, compared with a 2.5 percent acceleration in January.

On average, inflation for the first two months of this year increased by 1.7% compared with the same period last year.
