Japan could halt government purchases of Huawei and ZTE equipment

Japan readies to stop state-paid purchases of Huawei an ZTE products, according to Reuters that obtained the data from a source familiar with the issue.

The initial report was published in the Yomiuri, saying that officials were to reconsider the corresponding rules next Monday, aiming to counter sensitive data siphoning and hacks.

Earlier in the year the U.S. also blocked government procurement of Huawei hardware, as it claims the tech firm might embed means for spying by the Chinese government, though there were no proof presented, and Huawei denied all these allegations.
