JPMorgan assesses providing bitcoin futures to clients

JPMorgan Chase & Co. assesses the possibility of providing its customers with access to trade bitcoin futures, despite the severe criticism of the cryptocurrency by the bank's chief executive James Dimon.

In September, J.Dimon has derided the digital currency as a "fraud", saying that if the bank had traders working with the cryptocurrency, he would have "fired" them in a second.

However, Dimon's criticism does not stop the bank from assessing the business opportunities offered by the market of cryptocurrencies.

Previously, CME Group, the world's largest operator of futures exchanges, announced its intention to start trading bitcoin futures as early as December 2017, if it receives regulatory approval.
