Microsoft Corp. announced a major management reshuffle in the last 3 years, CEO Satya Nadella said.
Windows chief and Microsoft veteran Terry Myerson, who has been at Microsoft for more than two decades, will leave the company, and his department will be united with the cloud business. It will be headed by Scott Guthrie, who previously directed the cloud service Azure.
Office chief Rajesh Jha will become the head of the newly created Experiences & Devices team, which will focus on the various interactions of users with different devices.
Analysts say that changes in the leadership and structure of Microsoft are an attempt to catch up with changes in the computer market, which is increasingly moving away from traditional PCs. In addition, reorganization can lead to a reduction in costs.
Microsoft shares rose 0.9% on Thursday.
