According to Bloomberg, Qatar has discussed with a number of banks the idea of issuing an international bond this year. Qatar is considering raising at least $9 billion from it.
Qatar faced a financial blockade by its neighbors, which accused the nation of the financing of terrorism. Qatar's economic growth will be the slowest since 1995, economists say. And in the first two months since the boycott began, the country's authorities have already pumped almost $40 billion into the economy and the financial system.
In the current round of raising funds, Qatar intends to offer bonds to investors in Asia, Europe and the United States.
