Review: Asian stocks climb on strong earnings and U.S. tax hopes

Asian stocks jumped on Friday as solid U.S. earnings and a looming U.S. tax reform brightened the investors sentiment.

MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares leaped 0.8 percent while Japan's Nikkei advanced 0.4 percent, extending its surge from a near three-week intraday trough touched on Thursday.

Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 Index increased 0.2 percent and South Korea's Kospi index ticked up 0.1 percent.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index soared 0.8 percent, while the Shanghai Composite Index lost 0.6 percent, on track for its weakest week since August.
