Review: Asian stocks dip, Fed meeting in focus

Asian equities sank on Tuesday as traders waited for a Federal Reserve to announce plans over shrinking the $4.5 trillion balance sheet on its two-day meeting.

MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares lost 0.2 percent.

Japan's Nikkei stock closed up 2 percent after reaching its top since late June.

South Korean stocks slipped 0.1 percent.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index slumped 0.3 percent and the Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.5 percent.
