MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan jumped 0.6 percent.
Japan’s Nikkei recovered from early losses and closed up 0.6 percent.
South Korea’s Kospi leaped 2%, while Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 Index closed unchanged.
China's bluechip CSI300 index dropped 0.3 percent while the Shanghai Composite Index was 0.1 percent lower.
