Review: Asian stocks rise as Trump extends deadline on U.S. debt ceiling

Asian stocks edged up in early trading on Thursday as U.S. President Donald Trump agreed to extend the government borrowing limit until December.

MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares increased 0.5 percent while Japan's Nikkei climbed 0.4 percent.

South Korea's Kospi index jumped 1.2 percent, while Australian shares were mixed.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index advanced 0.5 percent.
