Review: Asian stocks rise, South Korea's Kospi hits record peak

Asian shares climbed on Tuesday, despite downbeat plant readings out of China.

MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares ticked up 0.4 percent.

Japan's Nikkei finished flat, following weaker U.S. stocks and a firm yen.

China's blue-chip CSI300 index dropped 0.2 percent and Hong Kong's Hang Seng slipped 0.1 percent.

South Korea's Kospi jumped 0.9 percent, while Australian shares slumped 0.2 percent.
