Review: China's foreign exchange reserves exceed $3 trln in February

China's foreign exchange reserves grew by surprise for the first time in eight months in February, exceeding $3 trillion as a result of regulatory measures and stabilized yuan, which helped to stop the outflow of capital.

In February reserves rose by $6.92 billion to $3.005 trillion, the first growth since June 2016, according to central bank data. In January the decrease was $12.3 billion, when reserves fell to $2.998 trillion.

Economists surveyed by Reuters had expected that foreign exchange reserves would fall by $25 billion in February.
