The dollar rose slightly against the euro and the yen on Monday.
Traders waited for the speech of the U.S. Federal Reserve chairwoman Janet Yellen, as well as other representatives of the Central Bank, expecting to receive signals about the Fed's plans to tighten policy.
The yen edged down less than 0.1 percent to 111.37 per dollar.
The euro dipped 0.1 percent to $1.1188.
Sterling gained 0.2 percent to $1.2747.
