The U.S. dollar edged down on Monday, trying to retain most of its gains on Friday after a strong July hiring report.
The dollar index was down 0.2 percent at 93.361. It soared 0.76 percent on Friday, its largest one-day rise this year.
The greenback slid 0.2 percent against the euro to $1.1796, after increasing 0.8 percent on the previous session.
The yen was flat at 110.69 per dollar.
