The U.S. dollar recovered slightly on Thursday ahead of the annual Jackson Hole meeting of central bankers.
The dollar index rose 0.1 percent to 93.226, following the previous session's 0.4 percent drop.
The greenback increased about 0.1 percent to 109.11 yen, having slid 0.5 percent overnight.
The euro was firm at $1.1807, after rising 0.4 percent on Wednesday on impressive German and French production and services sector data.
The pound dipped to a two-month trough and was 0.1 percent lower in early deals at $1.2789.
