Review: Dollar sinks on U.S. political tension

The greenback was under pressure on Friday after Special Counsel Robert Mueller has issued grand jury subpoenas related to possible Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. election campaign.

The dollar index held near the 15-month trough touched earlier this week. It was almost 0.1 percent lower on Friday at 92.779, on track for a weekly drop of 0.5 percent.

The dollar edged up 0.1 percent to 110.125 yen.

The pound dipped to a nine-month low against the euro overnight after the Bank of England's leaved interest rates unchanged at a record-low 0.25 percent. It traded at 0.9041 per euro on Friday.

The single currency rose 0.1 percent to $1.1879, extending Thursday's 0.1 percent growth.
