The euro added to overnight increase on Thursday as investors awaited a European Central Bank meeting to see if it does not extend its bond-buying scheme.
The single currency climbed to a six-day peak of $1.1833.
The dollar index slipped 0.15 percent to 93.567 .DXY, its lowest level in six days.
The greenback dipped 0.2 percent against the yen to 113.515.
Sterling was firm at $1.3271 after rising 1 percent on Wednesday after strong U.K. growth data.
