Review: Euro jumps to one-week peak on strong data

The euro surged to a one-week peak on Tuesday as German industrial output posted its biggest monthly increase in more than six years in August, reaffirming bets the euro area growth outlook remains strong.

The single currency jumped 0.4 percent to $1.1789, its top since Oct. 2.

The euro’s rise this year has slowed recently on political concerns over Spain’s Catalan crisis.
