Review: Euro jumps to six-week peak on euro zone’s recovery

The euro leaped to a six-week top versus the dollar on Friday, with investors optimistic about the strong pace of the euro area’s recovery after impressive economic figures this week.

The common currency traded at at $1.1865, around 0.7 percent higher since Monday, on track for a third consecutive week of gains versus the greenback - its strongest rally since July.

The euro had begun the week weakly, dragged down by political uncertainty in Germany after coalition negotiations failed, but it bounced back firmly amid robust growth forecast for euro zone.
